A real life person who does not work here found something in our used books. Amazing!
If there ever was an occasion to use the word #serendipity, now would be it. Headed to @strandbookstore in search of new #reading material, specifically “The Love Affairs of Nathaniel P.”, but decided to browse the $2 carts outside first. I pulled out “How They Met” and saw this piece of paper poking out. It’s a handwritten note from author Nancy Cobb telling the story of how her parents inspired the book which tells the stories of various famous couples. I cried on the spot while reading it, you guys. #Love, Alzheimer’s, #death, oh my gosh. I’ll post the whole thing and transcribe it later. But wow, what a find. And what a pair of books to buy together between the subject matter and the cover design. This is why I adore #bookstores like the Strand and hope they continue to exist forever and ever.

[He found his sons in the rearview mirror, their eyes still fixed on the sky, looking for signs and heroes.] Eric gave the engine more gas, and they accelerated toward the half-known and desperate history that bound them together.
